Rumours about the ban on Chinese apps had been doing the rounds for quite some time. In the wake of the India-China border face-off at the Galwan Valley, the demand for a complete ban on Chinese products including apps got a lot of traction on social media and many celebrities also requested for it.
The ban on Chinese apps is seen as a strong retaliation by the Indian government. That is not to suggest that the dubious privacy policy of these apps was not the key reason for their ouster.

What are the alternatives to these Chinese apps?
Though Chinese apps are quite popular for their simplicity and ease-of-use, they are not the only ones. There are billions of highly-rated apps in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. So, finding an app that can deliver better user-experience is not a big deal.
For instance, if you are looking for an alternative to TikTok that can let you share lip-syncing or short videos, Instagram’s IGTV could be a great pick. Similarly, if you want an app that can offer a better messaging experience than WeChat, look no further than WhatsApp, Viber, and Telegram.
Simply head into the Play Store/App Store on your device and search for the respective category of app. You will come across a ton of rivals. As most apps are available for free, you can give them a shot to figure out whether or not they fit into your taste.
Rapid Repair’s view
When it comes to the nation’s security and integrity, Rapid Repair‘s stance has always been clear. We stand by the government’s decision to remove Chinese apps from Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India.
Looking at the dubious privacy policy and various reports asserting that these apps allow the Chinese government to access users’ data, the decision seems reasonable.
If there is anything that we would like to request, it has to be the development of high-quality Made-in-India apps (and not a TikTok clone like Mitron) that can rival the best in the business. It will go a long way in making our nation self-reliant.
