Apple Watch Series 6 – What to Expect
As the much-awaited Apple’s September event is just around the corner, rumors about Apple Watch Series 6 have become more intense. Going by the hearsay, the smartwatch is promising to be a huge upgrade. If you are yet to catch up with the leaks, let’s take a sneak-peek into rumored Apple Watch Series 6 features!
MicroLED Display to Make Apple Watch 6 Slimmer and More Efficient
While the edge-to-edge OLED display looks eye-catching on the Apple Watch (Series 4 and 5), it drains plenty of battery. That’s the reason why Apple is expected to switch to the MicroLED display. In terms of efficiency, MicroLED display is better than OLED display.
According to reports, Apple is developing MicroLED screens at a secret manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California. With the inclusion of MicroLED screens, Apple Watch 6 will look slimmer and brighter. More importantly, the smartwatch will also use less power.
Redesigned Digital Crown for Better Control
Digital Crown has existed on Apple Watch since the first iteration. Apart from enhancing the profile of the smartwatch, it also improves the interaction with the wearable device.

As per several reports, the cupertino-based company is going to redesign the Digital Crown. The new input component will feature an optical sensor that will enable it to receive input from a user. To be more precise, it will simulate user interactions with a crown designed to be rotatable/translatable.

In-Screen Touch ID to Make Authentication a Breeze
Unlike iPhone and iPad, Apple Watch lacks a bio metric authentication like Face ID or Touch ID. While it may not be a big deal for many, the absence of an advanced bio metric authentication does make the smartwatch feel a little old-fashioned – especially during authentication.

According to rumor mills, Apple may introduce Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6. The fingerprint sensor will be built into the touchscreen. (Some reports also suggest that the Touch ID fingerprint sensor will be integrated with the Digital crown.)
Though Apple Watch automatically unlocks when paired/connected iOS device is unlocked, a user has to enter the pass code on a standalone basis.
Enhanced Water-Resistance for Intense Water Activities
Apple Watch can already resist water up to a depth of 50 meters which makes the smartwatch a handy asset for water sport. While this number may seem to be great for many, Apple is going to further bolster the water-resistance capability of the wearable device.
As per reports, the tech giant may add support for intense water activities including water skiing and scuba diving. From what we can tell, it would be a notable addition to the Apple Watch, especially for the folks who like to indulge in those activities.
Anxiety Monitoring
Health and fitness being the central aspect of the smartwatch, Apple makes sure to add a notable health-related feature with the release of every smartwatch. Be it ECG, fall detection or cycle tracking feature, the Cupertino-based company has always brought something helpful for health-conscious people.

If rumors are to be believed, the company will introduce “Anxiety Monitoring” on the latest iteration of the watch. With this feature, a user can keep a tab on anxiety and also find pro tips to take control of it.

Longer Battery Life
Though Apple Watch excels in most aspects, it never had a great battery life. While most rivals like Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 and Fit bit Versa deliver 3-4 days of battery life, Apple’s smartwatch lasts just a day. As a result, the wearable device needs to be charged overnight, which becomes a hindrance for sleep tracking.

If rumors are true, Apple Watch Series 6 will have a lot longer battery life. That means you will use the smartwatch more and charge less.
Much Improved Performance
Though every new iteration of Apple Watch gets a performance boost, Apple is said to vastly improve the performance of this smartwatch by introducing liquid crystal polymer or LCP material for the flexible circuit boards. Notably, the inclusion of faster Wi-Fi and cellular connections will also play a vital role in making the forthcoming smartwatch snappier.
Apple Watch 6 Release Date and Price
Going by history, Apple is likely to unveil Apple Watch 6 in September. Though it is said that the launch of the smartwatch has been delayed just like iPhone 12 due to Coronavirus, we expect the device to launch by November.
As for the price, Apple Watch 6 will cost as much as Apple Watch 5 which comes at 40,900 INR (starting price).
