iPhones come with Li-On (Lithium Ion) Batteries and their performance is measured not how big the Li-On cell is but its capacity that is measured by mAh (milliampere per hour). Although all iPhone models till date have 3.8V battery but Apple has provided different mAh for different models based on their architecture, form factor (size, design) as well as performance parameters. iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 all have more or less ~ 2000 mAh batteries. WHEN TO REPLACE IPHONE BATTERY ?

There are several symptoms that iPhone users describe, which are related to iPhone Battery and effect the overall performance of the iPhone. Many of them are pretty simple to diagnose by users themselves but several others need proper diagnostic tools to determine that the issue is with iPhone battery. Below, you will find some of the most simple ways to detect if your iPhone needs a battery replacement:

1. Battery Health is < 80% and it shows “SERVICE”. This means that your battery health has degraded to its lowest level where it cannot support peak performance. It will drain drastically while normal usage too and you will end up charging your iPhone multiple times in a day.

3. Unexpected Shutdown: Frequent and unexpected shutdown is another symptom of your iPhone battery not performing to its optimum state and needs replacement. Many times, iPhone will shutdown and show a low battery sign when putting on charging even the battery is charged 90% or above. Now, this may happen even if battery health is more than 80% and there is no “Important Battery Message” displayed under the Battery Health section.
4. Swollen Battery: It is pretty dangerous symptom and it should be treated immediately to prevent any further damage to iPhone and its other components such as Display. Typically, we have experienced from our customers that this happens if your iPhone is water damaged but several other reasons such as overcharging (overnight charging), using non-genuine (non MFI) charging cables or adaptors and / or the battery was replaced earlier with aftermarket quality. This symptom can also be diagnosed early if users detect shades on their iPhone Display that occurs because the swollen battery starts to touch the Display and that pressure causes shades on Display. Many a times, it goes to extreme and the Display is popped up from the iPhone frame.
